thoughts over the ironing board

It seems we begin each new day with some wrinkles. Throughout its course our heavenly Father has hot iron and bottle of starch standing by.  Some days might require a little more heat than others and maybe, a good dose of starch.

As a new house wife, with a business man for a husband, my meditations over the ironing board are as follows…. J

 The starch has a purpose

Dirt and sweat from a person's neck and wrists will stick to the starch rather than to the fibers of the clothing, and will easily wash away along with the starch. Starch is not only a protection, but it also gives a crispness and smoothness, keeping a long-lasting fresh appearance throughout the labor of the day.

His Word...like the fine dusting of the starch…fortifies our minds, guards our thoughts, and layers our hearts with the ingredient that, along with the combined heat and pressure of the iron, will make our testimony long-lasting throughout the messiness of the day.

The iron has a purpose...

Certain fabrics require high heat to reform their shape. The steam breathes life into the fabric as the hot iron is applied and the heat and pressure causes even the most stubborn of wrinkles to disappear.

The iron He uses on us are the people and circumstances of our day, both contributing to the heat and pressure that smooth out the wrinkles we began with.

"That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish."-Ephesians 5:27

  1. Welcome back! :)
There is so much to learn from these simple acts of serving. This reminds me of what Brother Gary shared with us...'the deep things of God, are the elementary things, done well." Love you! Happy ironing!
