dangerous beauty

Earlier this week we had a rain storm.
If you were to walk outside and put your hand out, it would have seemed just like any other gentle downpour. But the major difference in this rain storm was the temperature.

The result was beautiful.

But there is such a thing as dangerous beauty.

The tree limbs quickly became weighed down and some broke off.
We even lost power for a short while.

This kind of beauty appeals to the eyes but when the winds come, it is very destructive, and when the sun comes it will quickly melt.
True beauty is found in the heart...in the meek and quiet. It will last through the wind...
it will withstand the sun.

It does not bring destruction.
                                            It nourishes others.
"Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight". 1 Pet 3:4

  1. It is when the winds come, and the lights go out that will reveal what true beauty is...even those dangerous beautiful branches falling to the ground will bring nourishment to it. This breaking all around us, will do a needed pruning effect for our trees...still dangerous and distructive...and seeing the beauty that comes from this might take more time.

I really like this quote from John Buynan that shares of beauty being shaken a bit...

Christians are like the several flowers in a garden that have each of them the dew of Heaven, which, being shaken with the wind, they let fall at each other's roots, whereby they are jointly nourished, and become nourishers of each other. ~John Buynan

Can you tell I'm ready to trade ice on trees for dew on flowers? :)

    Love,
    mom
